Please spend your time at Tsutaya at you leisure.
The innkeeper will give you a brief explanation of the inn and the flow of the experience while you drink a cup of delicious tea brewed in water from the well. We hope you will check in at 1:30 p.m. for the fun experience we have prepared for you. You will be asked to wear a bib so that your clothes will not get dirty during the indigo dyeing and kamado experience.
You will be able to catch your own rockfish from the stream beside the inn and roast them on the hearth making salt-baked fish. Please note that the fish may not be caught by hand due to the river's water level or weather conditions. If you wish, you can try gutting the fish (an experience of taking a life). If you want to try gutting the fish, you will hear a wonderful story about life from the host who is also a hunter.
Learn weaving as if you were a weaver princess. During your stay, you can try weaving as much as you like. You will weave about 18 cm of fabric and can take it home.
After dyeing a handkerchief or a tenugui (hand towel) with indigo, you can finish it off by rinsing in the river. The indigo dye is exposed to a lot of oxygen in the sparkling clear water, which causes the colors to come out beautifully.
Locally caught deer is used in shabu shabu nabe which is dipping fresh venison into a hot pot. Yakigarashi chazuke (boiled rice in soup) is served with broth from grilled dried fish that has been placed onto the hearth and dried. Kamado rice is cooked while guests adjust the heat with a fire bamboo. The roasted rice is also delicious.
Please enjoy your time at Tsutaya, such as old style hearth and weaving.(Please be sure to leave the exhaust fans on the first and second floors while the hearth and wood stove are burning as this may cause monoxide poisoning.)
※ Please put leftover food in the trash and dishes in the dishwasher.
※ The innkeeper will enter only the first floor for fire inspection (fire extinguishing) around 22:00-23:00.
We will come to light the fire in the hearth at the time of your choice. Please choose either ① or ② and let us know at the time of reservation.
①Breakfast of punded rice cake made the old fashioned way
②Oyaki breakfast
The above is the general plan.
We will respond flexibly according to the wishes of our guests and the circumstances at the time.
